Sensor Array

The wiki page title is Sensor Array; the in-game UI label is Sensor Tower. This moon structure scans nearby space for asteroids and pirate activity β€” not the same as Radar Station fleet scans or attack early-warning timers.

Mechanics

  • Moon-only surveillance network
  • Scan range is 1 + √level (rounded down): 2 grids at level 1, 3 at level 4, 4 at level 9, 5 at level 16 (research and monument bonuses have diminishing returns and a hard cap)
  • Reveals harvestable asteroids and pirate presence in range

Special capabilities

Asteroid & pirate scans

Use Sensor Array to map economic and PvE threats around your moons:

  • Find Asteroid Harvesting targets without blind jumps
  • Spot pirate activity before sending fleets

This is complementary to Fleet Detection:

  • Radar Station β€” fleet scans + lengthens attack push alerts
  • Sensor Array β€” asteroid / pirate system scans

Strategy

  • Build on moons supporting economy or expedition hubs
  • Do not skip Radar Station on defense moons β€” Sensor Array does not replace attack warning
  • Higher levels matter in busy galactic arms

Lore

Sensor Arrays rely on advanced quantum detection systems capable of observing hyperspace disturbances created by traveling fleets.

These installations form the backbone of strategic intelligence networks.
